This cabinet/table could have been placed in front of a low throne, a high seat or in front of an altar. The back is unpainted but the two sides and front are painted with such detail and colour scheme to suggest that this came from a Lama's appartment. There is a drawer, which opens from one side and runs the length of the cabinet, as well as two of the three front panels which open in typical cabinet-style. The three upper panels in the front are decorated with a beautiful medalion with a stylised lotus in the centre. An elonggated version of similar design decorates the two lower panels. Scrolling medalions also decorate the two sides, but here the decoration is executed in kyung-bur, the raised gesso work. Around the top there is a carved lotus pattern.
