| The eye is drawn to the front facing dragon in the central cartouche, which is surrounded by lotus flowers and holds flaming jewels in its claws. In the field is found a fine kati rimo or lattice pattern, so popular on Chinese brocades of the Ming period. The golden background colour is in fact silver, with a yellow lacquer on top. Golden scrolls mark the corners and clouds adorn the border. This classic box is notable for its proportions and fine patina. | ||||
