This impressive box is decorated almost entirely with gold on a red cinnabar background. The central cartouche contains a large front-facing dragon which clasps a golden bowl of wish fulfilling objects in one claw and one of the Eight Auspicious Symbols, the Victory Banner, in the other. Touches of white and black pigment have been used to emphasis the dragon's horns, beard, and tail and a red, blue and white stripy line follows the dragons curling body. The plain red field has six large Chinese shou characters, symbolizing auspiciousness. Elaborate golden scrolls adorn the corners and scrolling patterns the border.
