| It is the simplicity and striking use of palette that gives this box a unique quality. The cinnabar-red field is adorned with a green and gold leafy decoration around a golden bowl of jewels, held up by a lotus flower. The corners are decorated with golden scrolls and the green border is embellished with polychrome clouds and golden patterns. The sides are decorated with a reversal of the colour scheme: green background with a flaming jewel and colourful clouds, with a simple red border. | ||||
