This bold, bright design and heavy wood structure are typical characteristics of furniture from Kham, Eastern Tibet. The main four panels are decorated with large red and blue flowers set amongst green leaves. The geometric pattern on the lower panels is repeated on one side, while the other side is plain. The reason for this is very pratical: it was made for a specific place where only one side would have been seen.
