In the central cartouche of each panel, a polychrome lotus flower emerges from the water. The largest, pink blossom, in the centre, holds up a flaming jewel, which represents the dharma, the teachings of the Buddha. Outside the cartouche, in the corners, and on the borders are found scrolling floral motifs.
