This fine little altar has six niches for statues or images of the Buddhist deities. Underneath are three little doors for storage. The decoration is fine and although there are other colours the main effect is that of "black and red", where the black was originally gold that has worn away over the years, leaving the glue to oxidise and turn black. On the three doors are polychrome lotus flowers in vases with garlands of jewels above. The frames of the niches are decorated with leaves and scrolls. All around is a carved frame so typical of altars and the decoration around the entrances to temples in Tibet.
