This large copper pot would have been used to store water in the monasteries or large households in Tibet. The brass fittings around the top and the handles are beautifully engraved. At the summit of the lid is a jewel-like, large, rounded knob with a lotus leaf base. A deeply incised, continuous scroll pattern adorns the base of the lid, while around the neck of the pot is a finely engraved panel, depicting the Eight Auspicious Symbols amongst lotus flowers, bilva fruit and deer. Also the side handles, with the large round rings, are finely engraved.
