The bottom part of this saddle set (this Rug 11) would have been put on the horse under the saddle, with the top part (Rug 11) on top of the saddle. They are beautifully executed with a medallion in the centre of an indigo blue background. The border is decorated with scrolls and flowers, and there is an inner border of pearls on a dark brown background and a simple outer border of the same colour, which is undyed brown wool. The undyed natural wool section in the centre would have been covered by the saddle, hence the lack of design.
