This khaden is made from vegtable dyes. It is a fine example of how effective and elegant the two coloured carpets can be. The design is traditional with medallions in the centre and the "Chinese" border. Rather more unusual is the addition, also in the centre, of the swastika, an ancient symbol of India representing stability. Notable is the abrage due to the natural colour changes of the dye, in this case indigo, which was extremely difficult to maintain at a constant hue. Very good condition.

Wool warp and weft.
Natural dyes.
